One Mom

  • First time mom.
  • Gave birth at 41.
  • Starting to homeschool this fall 2007.
  • Conservative Christian in my personal life and political views.
  • Presently completing PhD in Public Health.
  • Married to a wonderful man, who is a fantastic residential home builder/contractor.
  • My primary reason for starting this blog (started in June 2007 on townhall.com, then moved here to WordPress in July) is to do all I can to help get the word out about Mike Huckabee and ultimately see him elected the next president of the United States!

A quick note about comments on this BLOG. One, I am very busy and short, well written comments are much more likely to get approved. Very lengthy comments from supporters of other candidates who just want to promote their agenda will not be approved (hey, this is my blog … the one place on earth I do not have to be politically correct). Those folks should get their own blog and promote their candidate in their bandwidth. Comments that make no sense (grammar is the typical problem) will either be rejected or edited (if I can figure out what the person is trying to say).

Oh, one last thing about supporters of other candidates … I have done my research, I know what the others running for President are about and I know what Mike Huckabee is about. None of them are perfect, but for me and my family we have chosen (through research and prayer) to support Governor Huckabee in his Presidential Campaign. You will not find me on the blogs supporting other candidates trying to bash their candidate … I won’t do that there and I won’t allow it here.

There are plenty of political forums out there in cyberspace where folks can go and banter back and forth with each other (though I find that typically those are exercises in futility and very few people change their minds in such venues).

As far as the political purpose of my blog goes, I am here to get information out about Mike Huckabee as he runs for the office of President of the United States. I am targeting folks who are seeking information, not those who already support other candidates for whatever reasons they have. Hopefully this blog can also serve as encouragement to the Huckabee campaign and to other Huckabee supporters as we join together to elect Mike Huckabee the next President of the United States.

If someone does not like the rules of my sandbox, that’s fine - this is America and they are free to move on to another playground more to their liking.

Thank you.

Hey,

Are you going to the Mackinac Leadership Conference? I hope so. We need all the Huckabee supporters in Michigan to be there.

4. Karla - August 22, 2007

Kerry,

Please check out this new article by David Terr and Proloy Bhattacharyya that gives a lot of strength to Huckabee’s campaign. It includes this statement:

“But Huckabee is no longer a can’t win lower tiered candidate… so much of the voters that supported him as a #2 candidate will begin to support him at the top of the ticket.”

This is great stuff, thanks for posting it all. But I must admit I am new to this word press, and I am trying to get some of the widgets on my site and I have come up empty and can’t figure out how to do it.

Maybe you could tell me how.

Hi there. I wanted to make sure you saw (and perhaps would be interested in linking to) the video podcast we have just uploaded to youtube that features Governor Mike Huckabee.

Governor Huckabee was a featured guest on our nationally syndicated radio program, “America’s Business”. We showcased him in a two part interview, the first segment airing last week, the second will air this weekend around the country. We produce a weekly vodcast that offers the highlights of each weekend’s show, and Governor Huckabee was profiled prominently in both last week’s vodcast which can be found here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c2krVmjp-7U as well as on this week’s vodcast, just uploaded this evening, and available here: http://www.youtube.com/namvideo

I hope you find this useful.

All the best,

dl

Love your blog. I see you have a Homeschoolers for Huckabee button on your blog. I run a Christian School in California and I’d like to know the governor’s feelings about homeschools and vouchers.

Bob,
Here is a website to answer your question.
Huckabee on Education & Arts http://www.mikehuckabee.com/index.cfm?FuseAction=Issues.View&Issue_id=7
A clip of it:

“I have been a strong, consistent supporter of the rights of parents to home school their children, of creating more charter schools, and of public school choice, ” said Governor Huckabee.

If you belong to a State or National Organization please see if you can get them to endorse the Governor.

Kerry should be nominated Mother of the Year for the USA!!!

Kerry,
What are your thoughts on this fund rasing email that I sent to the campaign…..
“Good afternoon,
Have you considered starting a “Max it for Mike” fund raising drive. I think that there are a lot of Mike Huckabee supporters out there who are able (if not currently willing) to reach the maximum individual donation amount of $2,300 (I’m one of them!). With the right incentive, I believe that you can tap into this vast pool of money (not that a Mike Huckabee presidency shouldn’t be incentive enough). I have suggested in a number of blogs that Mike personally host 4 or 5 regional parties (northeast, midwest, etc.) for supporters who reach the maximum amount by Dec.15 The opportunity to meet Mike in person and to be personally acknowledged and thanked by the next president of the U.S. would be a very strong motivator for a lot of people to part with a lot of money. If just 2000 people nationally were to meet this goal, we’re looking at $4.6mm. The “parties” could be scheduled in conjunction with stops already on Mike’s calendar so as not to be overly time consuming or geographically inconvenient. I’m sure local Huckabee supporters could get on board to donate space, food, entertainment etc. I think this could be a fun way to generate a great deal of cash for the campaign. If you agree can you please officially recognize the drive on your website?
Thanks,
Steve”

Kerry,
Heard the phone conference tonight and I was interested to look up your blog after Mike gave you such a fine compliment. I will be viewing this blog daily.

13. Sally Counselman - October 23, 2007

Kerry,
Hopped over here after seeing your link on Huckabee’s website. Your writing is wonderful, and I am thrilled to find another homeschool mom who understands why I (we) feel like Mike is without a doubt God’s choice for the next US President. We need to encourage other like-minded homeschool families to wake-up and get behind Mike as well! I’m sure you are aware that in an unprecedented move, HSLDA endorsed Mike months ago which is where we first learned about him. Perhaps I need to contact HSLDA to see how we can be more involved in working among the HS community. Again, thank you and God bless you as you continue to blog for Gov. Huckabee! Would you mind letting me know where you are geographically located?

14. Todd - November 2, 2007

Hey One Mom, Bob, R George and Sally Councelman,

I am working on ways to contact people with homeschool concerns and get them information on Mr. Huckabee (especially in Iowa, NH, and S. Carolina). If you would be interested in helping, please get onto http://www.forum.hucksarmy.com and PM either botswanajones or WGCary.
Most people with homeschool concerns would probably gravitate to Mike if they know his ideas, history, and HSLDA PAC endorsement.

Todd

Hi Kerry,
Just wanted to tell you that I placed you on my blogroll. I enjoy reading your posts. Staying up-to-date with Huckabee’s campaign is so time consuming, but worth it.

Kerry,

I am sorry to learn that you have been having problems with comments that are being posted. You have a great blog and for whatever reason, some people must perceive it as a threat.

Hang it there! You know Mike truly appreciates all the work you do.

Great site and its great knowing so many have put up blogs and other sites to support Huckabee. I am contacting all (of those I can) of the sites on the Huckabee Blog Roll.

I am also on there and I have just setup a social community site dedicated to Mike Huckabee. You can connect with other Huckabee supporters from around the country, upload videos, photos, link your RSS feed, or create your own blog.

I really want to mobilze as many Huckabee supporters on this site as I can! Help the cause…..the site is at:

Thanks again and God Bless!

I realize that we don’t have the same political affiliation as I am supporting Dr. Paul for president, but I hope we can both support “The Family Education Freedom Act”. As this bill will soon be reintroduced to congress. I’m of the belief that if we can get all home schooling parents in force to contact their congressmen we can get the bill passed this time!

Thank you for your time! Information on this bill can be found here.

I am interested in your opinion/knowledge concerning all the Michigan Democrates voting in the Republican primary. Have you heard anything concerning it? I’ve read that since they don’t have a true ballot, some are encouraging the Dem’s to disrupt the accuracy of the Rep. votes.
