Obama took the stage a few minutes ago and said he felt bad about not being able to campaign here during the primary season, so he decided to make it up to Michigan by giving something special. Then he introduced John Edwards.

Edwards started by saying “so, what am I doing here?” Obama is sitting off to Edwards left on a stool on stage. Edwards is praising Hillary Clinton (when he mentioned her name, the crowd got ugly) … it sounds like he is eulogizing her campaign though. He has also declared that the nomination process will be over soon and calling all democrats to “come together”.

Now he’s asking the crowd “what brought all of us here today?” …. the crowd is chanting “Obama”.

(The fire marshall had to close the doors to Van Andel arena because it was full – about 12,000 people inside and many more out on the sidewalks listening on speakers).

Now Edwards is talking again about the “two Americas”. My guess is that Edwards’ appeal to unions and blue collar workers, that his endorsement will be a boon to Obama’s campaign. Edwards going to take another run at the vice-president spot … certainly possible. Edwards certainly has the vocabulary down, using Obama’s “yes we can” phrase throughout his speech. He says he’s here tonight because America has made their decision and so has he.

Watching this right now, I have to tell you … I’m a little scared.
