Goodbye Maxine

Posted by: onemom on: February 27, 2008

goodbye_max3.jpg I am so grateful that I was able to bring Max home from the vet on Tuesday and have one last day and night to take care of her. Keeping her warm, comfortable, and giving her small amounts of water were my main tasks for her last day with us, but it was also an opportunity to get some final pictures and to stroke her soft ears. We took an extra long route to the vet’s office this morning to give her one more car ride (one of her favorite things to do) … it was hard to say goodbye.

For tonight, I just want to share some of the pictures from our last day with Maxine Precious (her Mama’s name was Precious, that’s where that came from), and to again thank all of you who have prayed for us and comforted us during this sad time.

Praying for your family.

Our pets have only a very short time with us. They make too much noise and too much mess. They display a loyalty and a love that should make any human blush in shame. And in spite of themselves, they add such seasoning and joy to our lives.

I’ve been down this road a thousand times and a thousand times I’ve vowed “No more”. The saying good bye part is just too painful. For what ever worth my vows have since I share a house with four dogs, a cat and a ferret.

God bless you Kerry for the wonderful life you’ve given Maxine.

I was hoping you’d share more pictures of your Maxine. What a good steward you seem to have been (Pr 12:10), you can see she was well-cared for and loved. Prayers.

Kerry. I know Max knew you loved her. Thank you for loving her so much and taking care of her. Take care and you are in my thoughts and prayers.

Praying for your family tonight, particularly for Hannah as I’m assuming it’s the first close “loss” that she has experienced at a memorable age. The Lord gave man the responsibility to care for His creations, and you have done so admirably, setting a good example for you daughter. Blessings from GA.

Deepest regrets. vince

What a beautiful dog! I can just imagine stroking her soft ears, too. I pray blessings over you for giving Maxine a wonderful home.

Oh, beautiful Maxine. What a Precious indeed. We lost “Tilly” last July. We have yet to get another dog although the family has hinted quite a bit. My prayers are with you. I know it’s very very tough.

I have a couple who want to donate using your Ranger code in honor of Maxine. However they do not have your code. Please call Judith 501-324-2008 at LR Huckabee HQ.

Kerry,
I’ve been dedicating all my donations to just Mike Huckabee’s campaign since August, ‘07 when a photo of Mike on this site introduced me to him. I am so grateful for that exposure to Mike’s campaign. And I am glad to make an exception at this moment, to send a donation to RK Death Row Dog Rescue (in Perry, OH) to honor your beloved Maxine.

My apologies for not responding to each of you individually … the kindness from my blog family has been incredible.

Diane – I want to thank you both for honoring Maxine with your donation the the dog rescue in Perry. I also want to thank you for letting me know that my blog is where you first “met” Mike Huckabee … it is encouraging when I hear that the OneMom blog has helped Gov. Huckabee on this journey to the White House.

Kerry, you are my favorite blog on Huckabee and the first one I check out every day. One of my friends says, we are all connected by an “amazing web of grace”. I love to think how that includes “the worldwide web” rightly used.
Wishing you a good today.
Diane

I am so sorry. I came to your blog through the Huckabee campaign, and learned so much from you. I just got an e-mail that my brother’s dog’s battle with cancer will end today, so we are already praying for him. We will add your family to our prayers. May you have peace and comfort. You have been a blessing to me.

Oh how wonderful her life was with you. I am so touched and honored to see Maxine. She looked a lot like my Lily Pad. Thank you so much for sharing this with us.

Love, Cat, Chaps and Emma
