… he wished us “Merry Christmas”. GASP!
Watch this beautiful new greeting from Mike Huckabee which is airing online and on TV stations in Iowa, South Carolina and New Hampshire beginning this week, and then read the rest of this post following the video.
Fox News has declared what Mike Huckabee has done in this ad to be “unthinkable” … to mention the “Birth of Christ” and to wish us “Merry Christmas”. The media is standing around with their mouths open, completely floored by Gov. Huckabee’s complete disregard for Political Correctness. Personally, I am sick to death of this PC culture that is destroying everything that is pure and good in the United States. Political correctness says we should not greet people with “Merry Christmas”, but I say this PC culture is tearing apart the amendment that is the cornerstone of the work of our founding fathers:
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances. (The Bill of Rights, First Amendment).
If anyone is thinking of twisting this amendment and leaving a nasty comment about church and state, the amendment is to keep the government out of our churches, not the other way around.
The other item that Fox News is harping about is the “subliminal message of the floating white cross” in Gov. Huckabee’s Christmas greeting. I had to watch it again, because I had no idea what they were talking about. OK Fox News, listen carefully … IT’S THE SHELVING UNIT ON THE WALL!! Wow, Sigmund Freud would have a great time with these people. I believe (to paraphrase Dr. Freud) that he would tell them “sometimes a shelving unit is just a shelving unit”. If you want to read the rest of Fox News’ paranoia, please click HERE.
Another analysis of all of this is at the Stumper Blog at Newsweek.
One more thing … ~76.5% of the US Population identifies themselves as Christian. So …
Merry Christmas Everybody!
Kerry
I guess Fox News published a link to the ad on mikehuckabee.com in an article about this, so people are following the link and checking out Gov. Huckabee’s website for the first time. I read comments from people who followed the link. Yeah!
Yes, the “thought police” are all upset about this, aren’t they? My mother was born in Nazi-controlled Germany, and as a child she lived in fear that something she said would cause her parents to be taken away. We need to turn this PC garbage in our country around NOW! My husband just returned from a business trip to Taiwan. Above the front desk at his hotel was a big banner that said “Merry Christmas!” (He took a picture of it for me, because it is so novel to us Americans.) He said that he was repeatedly greeted with “Merry Christmas! God bless!” during his 10-day stay. Do we really live in a country with religious freedom and freedom of speech? Our nation needs Mike Huckabee!
Shout it from the rooftops in the U.S.A. “Jesus Christ is born!” Merry Christmas, everybody!

I really think it is sad that somebody is searching that hard to find something so outrageous to use as an attack. Anyone can see the “floating cross” is a shelf in the background.
[...] Mike Huckabee was torn apart by the media and other liberals for wishing us a “Merry Christmas” and for having a bookshelf in the background which some deemed to be a “floating cross”. Nothing “floating” about Obama’s “cross” … where are those who blasted Huckabee repeatedly for not “separating church and state”? Why aren’t they demanding Obama to apologize for putting out campaign material that is so obviously tied to a religion? [...]

He wore A RED SWEATER??? How dare he?
I never expected that PC would become so powerful that even the GOP would bash people for expressing faith. I’m saddened to see where so much of the leadership has gone.
On the other hand, it’s heartening to see how many real people aren’t buying it. Mike’s doing great without the establishment.
