A quick blog round-up after Huckabee’s speech at the Washington Briefing

From Mere Orthodoxy:

“…one answer is clear–Mike Huckabee deserves to be considered as a top-tier candidate for the Republican party. Even with his unusual (for Republican) financial views, he is a solid campaigner and a world-class communicator who could be an extraordinarily effective President.”

From Active Christian Media:

“Huckabee Brings Down the House at the Values Voter Washington Briefing”

From Red State:

“Thompson and Romney should be worried. We have reached the crowd favorite.

Now he goes into marriage. The crowd goes wild and these, by the way, are not his people. His small group is up front, but the rest of the crowd is not his, but they are now.”

From A Buck for Huck:

Huckabee hit that one way, way, out of the park.  Perhaps one the finest political campaign speeches delivered in- whose knows when- was just masterfully driven out of the park by former Ark. Governor and candidate for President Mike Huckabee.  The room was electric and the crowd was on their feet for much of the speech with cheers and applause.  This was not just the enthusiasm of loyal Huckabee supports.  Huckabee struck some real notes and his speech really hit home right in the heart of where values voter’s deep seated convictions and passions lie.  He appeared to really resonate with the crowd and should have.  He was telling them what they truly have longed to hear for years and for once you knew that the politician speaking was authentic.  He started out by telling them (religious conservatives), “I don’t come to you, but I come from you.”  And those who heard new it was clearly so.
