On August 18th, I posted information and commentary about the two Cancer Forums that Lance Armstrong is hosting for Democratic and Republican Presidential Candidates to discuss how they plan to address the serious health problem of Cancer.

Regardless of my reservations about the missed opportunity for this to be an indepth conversation about Health Promotion, Disease Prevention and Health Care – Mr. Armstrong instead wants to discuss cancer in this country – I still believe this can be a beneficial forum, and will give more Americans the chance to hear substantive commentary from Mike Huckabee.

Candidates who have confirmed their attendance are:

Democrats:

• Hillary Clinton
• John Edwards (no surprise here, with his wife’s public battle with Cancer)
• Dennis Kucinich
• Bill Richardson

Republicans:

• Sam Brownback
• Mike Huckabee
• (Tommy Thompson confirmed before the Iowa Straw Poll, but after a disappointing finish there, he has dropped out of the Presidential race and will not be attending).

Some details:

• The democratic forum will be held on Monday, August 27th on MSNBC from 10 am – 12 pm (Central Time, check your local listings for details).
• The republican forum will be held on Tuesday, August 28th on MSNBC from 10 am – 12 pm (Central Time, check your local listings for details).

Some things that surprise me about this:

• Obama NOT participating
• Paul NOT participating
• Brownback’s website last updated on August 15th, and has “no events” scheduled
• Romney NOT participating

If I find any more information about these forums, I will update this posting. If not, then make sure you set your VCR or whatever recording device you use for MSNBC on Monday and Tuesday mornings .
